float . for illustration friday .
these belong to a series of drawings i did during 2003 and 2004, which were all done on the back of subway tickets. hm, passes. or something. sort of white cardboard things. or something like that. whatever you call them.
i'm aware this picture looks terrible but i've decided to ignore that, in order to post SOMETHING (anything) to this week's topic.
click on it to see it much much larger. well, not so much. but quite.

I like how these were photographed. They have an Edward Gorrey feel to them. I think they are a wonderful series plus I like that you used found materials to make them. Very cool.
i love your illustrations. besides meeting the requirements for the topic, the style is great. it reminds me of the antiquated block prints used in books and newspapers, and the lace you used in the picture just adds to it.
great style! i love the photography too. somehow the dim lighting just adds to the whole feel of it. nice!
Great illos. For some the reason, they remind me of the Tarot cards shown at the begining of Carnivale on HBO.
I agree with holly about the Gorrey feel. I really like these a lot!
I was thinking, maybe it would be nice to always get subway tickets with drawings on the back...but then you wouldn't be able to draw anything new on them! But i would love to get these out of the machine!
the woman with the umbrella is my favourite...!
I have a children's illustration blog, come visit!
